THE GLEASON FOUNDATION
STEVE GLEASON
Steve Gleason played for the New Orleans Saints as a special teams player from 2000 to 2007. He is best known for his blocked punt in the Saints' first game back in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, which the Saints won 23-3 against the Atlanta Falcons.
In 2011, Gleason was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) [3]. Following his diagnosis, Gleason and his family traveled the world, and he became an advocate for ALS awareness and research.
Gleason founded the Gleason Foundation, which aims to empower people living with ALS and raise awareness about the disease [3][4]. The foundation provides financial support to patients and families affected by ALS, helping them to achieve their dreams and live life to the fullest despite their diagnosis [4]. The foundation also supports research initiatives and advocates for policy changes that benefit the ALS community.
The Gleason Foundation offers various programs and services, including:
Team Gleason Adventures: Organizes outdoor adventures and experiences for people living with ALS
Team Gleason ALS Advocacy: Advocates for policy changes and raises awareness about ALS
Team Gleason ALS Research: Supports research initiatives and clinical trials
Team Gleason Equipment and Services: Provides financial assistance for medical equipment and services
Gleason's story and legacy have inspired countless people, and his foundation continues to make a significant impact in the ALS community
